Torch Down Roofing
Torch down roofing, also known as torch-on roofing, involves the application of modified bitumen sheets that are melted onto a roof surface using a propane torch. This method creates a waterproof seal that effectively prevents leaks, making it highly suitable for flat or low-slope roofs where water pooling is a concern. The layers involved typically include a base sheet, a smooth membrane, and a granulated surface layer, which not only enhances durability but also provides resistance against UV rays and weather-related wear. Torch down roofing is particularly valued for its longevity, typically lasting up to 20 years with proper maintenance, and its ability to offer a robust defense against extreme weather, making it a preferred choice for buildings in areas with variable climate conditions.
Flat Roofing
Flat roofing is a popular roofing choice, particularly for commercial and industrial buildings, due to its cost-effectiveness and practicality. Unlike sloped roofs, flat roofs provide a level surface that can be used for various purposes including the installation of HVAC units, green roofs, or even as accessible areas for recreation or storage. The design of flat roofs facilitates easier installation and maintenance, often resulting in lower initial and ongoing costs. Additionally, flat roofs are typically constructed using materials such as EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin), and PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which are known for their durability, resistance to weather, and effective water drainage capabilities. These characteristics make flat roofing an efficient solution for large surface areas where traditional pitched roofing might be impractical or prohibitively expensive.
